1,9 (Guns, 9/11)

(2nd tease section)

Now, more than ever, guns are at the center stage of a raging, constitutional debate.

Just what is it with all these guns in West Virginia?  What if you didn't even need the guns?

What if you could kill and maim without weapons?

Sometimes a moment in time reaches the status of incomprehensible.
Ingrained forever...

Very few human beings ever envisioned passenger planes being simultaneously hijacked and used as 250,000 lb cruise missiles.  But once again, society adapted with the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and the TSA, airport screenings and reinforced cockpit doors.  Everything changed.  Yet some have a different take on 9/11.  After all, one man's terrorist is often another man's freedom fighter.  Where some saw the hijackers as cowards, some saw bravery.  Many saw religious fanaticism, others construed geo-political blowback.  Where cable news showed delusion and brainwashing, others marveled at the imagination and creativity.  But the most significant.... where many experienced the loss of human life and trillion dollar financial toll, others could see the brilliance of asymmetric warfare and unprecedented transaction costs.

9/11 showed us that sometimes you have to think outside the box.
In Washington DC, they call it "thinking outside the beltway."
